Wilks secures WRC car for Norway.

Britain's Guy Wilks looks set to compete in a World Rally Car on the Rally Norway next month, having secured a deal to use a 2005-spec Ford Focus WRC.

Wilks, who has been one of the front runners in the FIA Junior World Rally Championship in recent years, taking the runners-up spot in 2005 and finishing third in 2004 and fifth in 2006, will use a Ramsport Ltd-run Focus, the same outfit that prepare and field a Ford Focus for Norwegian youngster, Andreas Mikkelsen.

Although details are currently sketchy and it is not known if Wilks will do any more events with the Focus this year, it is undeniably a boost for the Brit, who has been keen to graduate to the 'senior' level for some time.

Another surprise entry for the Rally Norway meanwhile is Xavier Pons, who has been entered in a Mitsubishi Lancer WRC05, along with Toni Gardemeister and Juho Hanninen. Pons, according to reports by the official WRC website, wrc.com, may also be in action in Sweden and Monte Carlo with the Lancer, if permission is given by the FIA to allow him to use the car which had been entered for Khalid Al Qassimi. Interestingly Al Qassimi is down to compete in a Abu Dhabi Subaru Rally Team-run Subaru Impreza WRC car in Norway.

More to follow as we get it...
