Provisional Rally Norway entry list released.

The organisers of the Rally Norway have released the provisional entry list for their event, the third round in the 2007 FIA World Rally Championship and it includes 79 crews in total - almost 30 in the WRC class.

"One thing is sure, Petter and Henning Solberg will have plenty of international competition," noted Rally Norway clerk of the course, Stig Rune Kjernsli. "The response exceeds all our expectations and confirms that Rally Norway is something the manufactures teams and the other WRC drivers want."

All the major teams will be represented, with Subaru's Petter Solberg and Chris Atkinson, Ford's Marcus Gronholm and Mikko Hirvonen and Citroen's Sebastien Loeb and Daniel Sordo all in action.

Guy Wilks from the UK is among the many international drivers taking part. He has dominated the Junior World Championships for several years in his Suzuki and will be taking part in a 2005 spec Ford Focus WRC car-run by Ramsport.

Jan Kopecky is the only driver entered in a Skoda Fabia WRC, while Gigi Galli will be driving in a Citroen Xsara WRC, as will Manfred Stohl and Daniel Carlsson, although the latter two will both be running under the OMV Kronos Citroen banner.

"Perhaps the best news is that there will be a strong Mitsubishi contingent with top drivers, Toni Gardemeister and Juho Hanninen from Finland and also Xavier Pons from Spain," added Kjenrsli.

Henning Solberg will be driving for the Stobart M-Sport Ford Rally Team, which has entered four cars, like in Sweden, one of which will have the talented young Norwegian Andreas Mikkelsen behind the wheel. The two other drivers are Jari-Matti Latvala and Matthew Wilson. Mikkelsen will drive a 2005 model, whereas the other three will drive the new 2006 model.

There will be a total of eight Norwegian drivers in the WRC class. In addition to the Solberg brothers and Mikkelsen, the reigning Norwegian champion, Thomas Schie, has been entered in his Ford Focus WRC. The list also includes Subaru drivers Mads Ostberg and Anders Grondal and Ford drivers Christian August Selmer and Bernhard Kongsrud.

In total, as well as 29 drivers entered under the A8 class, there will also be nine competing in the A6 class, including P-G Andersson, two in the A7 class, 14 in the N3 class and 25 in the N4 class.
