"The FIA hopes that the event will be included once again in the Formula One World Championship calendar from 2007 onwards."
The Belgium Grand Prix has been rumoured to be under threat for a while now after last year's promoter filed for bankruptcy. F1 tsar, Bernie Ecclestone had been linked to the circuit and was said to be in discussions to become the new promoter, but it appears that those negotiations have fallen through.
If the race is not replaced, F1 will now feature 18 races this season, rather than the planned 19. The new season kicks off next month with the Bahrain GP on March 12.
