It was unusual not to have one of the Winston Ten Kate Hondas in the thick of the action, however Fujiwara was racing with a broken finger and his team-mate and new World Supersport Champion, Sebastien Charpentier is out with a damaged shoulder. Charpentier was replaced at this round by Dutch rider Arie Vos who finished just out side the top ten in eleventh place.

The Moto - 1 Suzuki team had mixed fortunes with Matthieu Lagrive finishing in tenth place as he had hoped and his new team-mate Hudson Kennaugh retiring on the fifteenth lap.
