Wilson: I was a bit of a 'wimp' at times!
Britain's Matthew Wilson joked that he was driving like a 'wimp' at times on the second leg of the Rally Catalunya on Saturday.
Wilson finished the day 14th overall after setting a steady pace in his Stobart VK Ford. However while he wasn't exactly over the moon with his position, he set some impressive split times, especially in light of the fact this is very much a 'learning year' for the 19-year-old, who is making his debut on the Spanish round of the FIA World Rally Championship.

Wilson finished the day 14th overall after setting a steady pace in his Stobart VK Ford. However while he wasn't exactly over the moon with his position, he set some impressive split times, especially in light of the fact this is very much a 'learning year' for the 19-year-old, who is making his debut on the Spanish round of the FIA World Rally Championship.
Speaking at the end of the day, he noted: "It's true... I was driving like a wimp [this morning]. But overall, it was quite good. We're still here, but we could have done better.
"We had a mistake on the fourth stage of the day, we spun just after a slow corner. It was nothing major but it lost us maybe 16 seconds. In the second stage this afternoon we just can't seem to get it right, the notes, and I don't have any confidence in the car. The last stage of the day was trouble free except for a little mistake under braking and some bits and pieces, but nothing major. We've had good splits and I've learning from each stage, it's just piecing every bit together now."
Wilson's co-driver, Michael Orr meanwhile had a more 'normal' assessment of things, although he believes that the experience gained on this year's event could pay dividends when they return in 2007.
"We've continued our learning curve and at the end of the day I think our summary is that we're happy with how it's gone," he added. "We've had a few problems, we had a spin on a stage just after service and this morning we went off the road when braking down to a junction but it's only lost us maybe 20, 30 seconds over the day. Some of out split times have been very strong, so it's good to see that. We know we can do the times, it just takes a little bit of time to be consistent and string all those bits together. It's unfortunate we've let [Andreas] Aigner in the Skoda back in front of us know but we'll have to do something about that tomorrow."
