Jaan Molder will make his Junior World Rally Championship debut in a Ford Fiesta Super 1600 car in 2006, following confirmation he has concluded a deal with emerging WRC team, Atolye Kazaz Team Turkey.
The Estonian, who made his WRC debut last year, when he drove a Group N Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI on the Swedish Rally, will begin his season on the same event, he will then compete in Argentina, Italy, Finland, Turkey and Great Britain. He has selected Katrin Becker to be his co-driver, as she has already gained Super 1600 experience during the last two years alongside Niki Schelle.
Speaking following the announcement, Molder, who won the Group N Estonian Rally Championship in 2005, revealed that the deal to drive the Fiesta came somewhat out of the blue.
"I am happy about this interesting proposal which reached us at the last minute," said the 18-year old. "It was an attractive offer and made us change our mind.
"Driving an M-Sport supported new Fiesta S1600 run by the experienced Atolye Kazaz Team gives me the possibility to fulfil my points-scoring target in results during my first year in the JWRC. I am now looking forward to testing with my new team in South-Estonia very soon."
