Both teams came to this 2nd leg playoff match with incomplete teams, and had to cope with a very tricky wet track after heavy rain in the area earlier in the day.
Large crowd see Matt say Farewell.
A large crowd turned out at Somerset's Oak Tree Arena last night, to bid farewell to one of Speedway's favourite sons, Matt Read, or "Readie" as he is known to his huge army of fans.
Cheetahs go down at Coventry.
A fine performance by Oxford reserve Eric Andersson was not enough to save the Cheetahs from defeat at Coventry last Friday night in their penultimate away league match of the season.

Reading Bulldogs went down to a narrow 47-43 defeat at Poole on Wednesday evening, but they didn't leave Wimborne Road empty-handed, as the four-point reverse was enough for them to pick up the all-important aggregate bonus point.

Reading pulled off one of their best performances of the season and bounced back from Monday's home defeat in style, with an emphatic moral-boosting 58-37 win over Wolverhampton Wolves on Wednesday evening at Smallmead Stadium.

BSI sign five year deal with CANAL+
BSI has agreed a contract with CANAL+ Cyfrowy, the owner of Pay TV CANAL+ Poland, to extend their exclusive live television rights contract for both the FIM Speedway Grand Prix (SGP) Series and the FIM Speedway World Cup (SWC) until 2011.

All indicators are pointing upwards towards a record breaking 31st Annual World Championship I.C.E. Racing Series. The added interest the new Manufacturers World Cup Bikes have brought to the series has allowed I.C.E. to increase their prize money by over 30% above last season.

Australian Jason Crump has won the 2006 FIM Individual Speedway World Championship having taken an unassailable 71-point lead in the series after the Prague round on the weekend.

Sweden's Tony Rickardsson, who is suffering from double vision when riding, has been ordered by doctors to rest for 14 days and therefore has withdrawn from Saturday's FIM Italian Speedway Grand Prix at Lonigo (29th July).

We are thrilled to report that we have just received stunning news and that news is that Ales is fully conscious, talking coherently to his family and doctors in both English and Czech as he sits up in his hospital bed at the neurological unit at the Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford.

As reported yesterday, doctors treating seriously injured Czech Republic star Ales Dryml at Oxford's John Radcliffe hospital took the decision to move him out of the Intensive Care Unit to the specialist Neurological Unit which is still housed in the old hospital, the John Radcliffe Infirmary.
