Moto2 champion Alex Marquez - joining brother Marc at Repsol Honda next season - is using a plain black livery at the LCR team as he tests alongside fellow rookies Brad Binder and Iker Lecuona. Miguel Oliveira and Takaaki Nakagami are not present, as they continue to recover from shoulder surgery, while Francesco Bagnaia is absent after his bizarre pit lane accident on Saturday.
Danilo Petrucci had to stop testing after just ten laps on Tuesday due to tendonitis in his shoulder, while Dani Pedrosa is back in action as part of his KTM test riding duties.
Outgoing rookie star Fabio Quartararo led an all-Yamaha top three on the opening day of testing, with Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati) and Marc Marquez (Honda) best of the rest. All factories with the exception of Aprilia, whose new bike will not be seen until Sepang in February, have brought significant updates to this test.
Testing takes place from 10am to 5pm, with another test being held at Jerez next week.
This is the last Valencia MotoGP test, the event being dropped from next season due to the expanding race calendar.
