James Davison led all 40 laps to win the Mid-Ohio 100 Firestone Indy Lights race for the second consecutive year, but the result was more significant for Vision Racing, which took its first success in the series five weeks after Davison gave the team its first pole, at Watkins Glen.

Power takes Edmonton IndyCar victory
Will Power justified Roger Penske's decision, not only to sign him as stand-in for Helio Castroneves at the start of the year, but also to increase his schedule in the #12 by claiming a maiden IndyCar Series win on the runways of Edmonton airport.

Edwards wins first Atlantics race at Autobahn.
John Edwards picked up his second Atlantic Championship victory - and led a 1-2 sweep - for Newman Wachs Racing on the team's home turf in the first race of the Harrah's Autobahn Grand Prix double-header.

Justin Wilson provided Dale Coyne Racing with its first-ever IndyCar Series victory - in the 25-year old team's 558th open-wheel start - in the Camping World Grand Prix at Watkins Glen, fending off the attentions of three of the series' 'big four' in the process.

Dixon wins Milwaukee.
Reigning IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon became the first driver to win for the second time in 2009, taking the chequered flag in the ABC Supply/AJ Foyt 225 at the Milwaukee Mile after long-time leader - and 2008 race winner - Ryan Briscoe was momentarily caught up in traffic.

Cunningham wins close Freedom 100.
Polesitter Wade Cunningham recovered from losing his advantage mid-race to claim his second Firestone Freedom 100 race win in five attempts, edging JR Hildebrand by just 0.1046secs in the closest finish in event history.
