Leading F3 Euroseries rookie, and BMW prot?g?, Sebastian Vettel will get a first taste of Formula One power with the WilliamsF1 team during next week's group test in southern Spain.

The 18-year old German will join the team to drive a BMW-powered FW27 during the Jerez test, having been awarded a contract by the motor manufacturer in December 2004, following his domination of the Formula BMW ADAC Championship. Securing 18 wins in 20 races led to the title and rapid elevation into the Euroseries, where he has proven to be a frontrunner with the Mucke Motorsport team despite his rookie status. He currently lies 13 points clear of his nearest rival in the newcomers' standings.

"When I found out I was going to have a Formula One test, I was absolutely delighted," Vettel, who also enjoys support from Red Bull, commented, "Since then, I've been steadily building up my neck muscles to be able to withstand the enormous g-forces I'll face.

"Above all, I'm really looking forward to experiencing the performance of the BMW V10 engine. At the moment, I find it hard to imagine that kind of power, but I get goose bumps just thinking about driving the FW27 next week."

Vettel joins fellow FBMW champions Nico Rosberg and Ho-Pin Tung in getting a chance to test with Williams shortly after their title-winning campaigns. In Rosberg's case, the initial try-out led to a permanent testing role, and could yet see the German in the team's second car next season. Tung, meanwhile, rejoined Williams and BMW to demonstrate one of their F1 cars on the streets of Rotterdam last month.
