Christijan Albers and Giorgio Mondini completed Midland MF1's latest test with an evaluation of the M16's transatlantic aerodynamics package ahead of next weekend's Canadian Grand Prix.

As with Tiago Monteiro on Wednesday, race regular Albers completed the bulk of the work as the British weather at last agreed to play ball with the local Silverstone team, racking up 57 of the squad's 93 laps. The Dutchman's best lap time, a 1min 22.060secs effort, was nine-tenths faster than Monteiro's from day two, primarily because of the improved conditions. Mondini clocked a best of 1min 23.420secs in his 36 laps, improving on the 1min 24.27secs he set the day before.

"I think we had a reasonable day and I was fairly satisfied with our performance," Albers reported, "The test has been a productive mix of reliability, development and set-up work, and the data we have collected will prove useful over the coming double-header events in North America until we can test again."

Mondini kicked off the final day by looking at some fundamental studies for Midland's vehicle science department, running the Canada aero package in advance of next weekend's race. Albers took over the car mid-morning and ran a tyre programme for Bridgestone, while also getting an early taste of the Canadian set-up and testing new brake components for notoriously hard-braking Gilles Villeneuve circuit.

"We learned a lot about the new aero package and I was able to record my best times at this circuit, so I'm pleased," Mondini concluded, "But the important thing is that the team as a whole is continuing to make progress, which motivates everyone to keep pushing hard for the remainder of the season."
