Determined to prove that its two teams will be in competition this season, Red Bull took the wraps off its 2006 assault at a spectacular Arabian Nights-themed launch on the eve of the Bahrain Grand Prix weekend in Sakhir last night.

Hours before the season's action kicked off on the desert circuit, the drinks brand hosted a star-studded event to mark Scuderia Toro Rosso's debut and Red Bull Racing's second year in F1.

Held on a private island off the coast of Bahrain, the launch celebrated all that Arabia is famous for, with oil lamps lighting the way to dancers and musicians, who entertained while the guests feasted on local cuisine. Once the meal was over, however, the real focus of the night began, with film of the two teams in action culminating in staged footage of all four cars 'racing' around Paul Ricard, before - in a moment straight out of every Arabian cultural cliche - one car from each squad appeared on stage as if transported on a magic carpet.

Two different liveries reflected the fact that Red Bull is determined to break links between the two teams, at least on track, with Toro Rosso adding a large red bull to the rear of its machine while RBR remains with predominantly dark blue with the brand's famous logo still rampaging on the airbox.
