The boy, Fernando, arrived the day after the Belgian Grand Prix, with Barrichello Sr having made a dash from Belgium to Brazil in time to witness the birth.
"I left Spa at eight o'clock in the evening, got here sometime around six o'clock in the morning, and the doctor said it was going to happen that day," he revealed, "It was not induced or anything, but it happened that night. I was there, and I am very happy that I was lucky enough that little Fernando waited it for me.
"We wanted a name that went along with [first son] Eduardo, because it sounds a bit funny when you have something like Luca and Eduardo. Fernando looks just very similar. They look very similar in the same respect, so that is quite nice."
Barrichello, who leaves Ferrari for BAR at the end of the season, confirmed that wife Sylvana and the new baby would not be present at Interlagos this weekend, but that the birth had come at just the right time in the calendar.
"I cannot drive for two months [after leaving Ferrari], so I will be just introducing myself to my son, so he doesn't think of me as just a piece of paper," he smiled, "After three months, he might recognise me, so it is going to be okay!"
