Jordan joins Ferrari at Ricard test.

Jordan Grand Prix trebled the number of cars pounding around the Paul Ricard HTTT circuit in the south of France on Thursday, fielding two cars alongside Marc Gene's lone F2005.

Narain Karthikeyan joined regular test driver Robert Doornbos to work on a mixed programme centred on the tyre evaluations for the forthcoming races in Germany and Hungary, while the Dutchman also sampled the B-spec EJ15-Toyota as the team works towards a possible introduction next weekend.

While Jordan was beginning its final two-day test before the mandatory summer break, Ferrari was entering its third day with Gene at the wheel, the Spaniard focusing once more on Bridgestone tyre developments. As was to be expected, the F2005 proved quicker than either of its rivals, with Gene setting the pace at 1min 13.297secs in the course of 88 laps.

Karthikeyan lapped in 1min 15.011secs, but completed a session-high 101 laps, while Doornbos was 1.8secs slower than his team-mate, but only covered 33 tours.

Both teams continue testing today [Friday], when world champion Michael Schumacher takes over from Gene, and Tiago Monteiro expects to get a run with Jordan.
