The most popular game in the F1 paddock this weekend is guess how Juan Pablo Montoya really hurt his shoulder, and most answers are uncannily similar.

McLaren's official line that he hurt himself in a fall while playing tennis has been treated with scepticism by many observers, who are familiar with the Colombian's penchant for riding machines with two-wheels.

Alternative versions of the story now circulating include a suggestion that he fell off a Harley Davidson - a tale allegedly given to the media by another driver - while the other popular version involved some sort of dirt bike and an attempt at making a jump.

That story includes such intriguing supposed detail as the fact that five of his mates were there to see it, and that he was travelling at more than 50mph when the incident happened.

The German media has been quick to pick up on the story, and under the headline 'Mercedes Chaos' one paper tried to draw a link with Kimi Raikkonen's controversial social life.

In reality it matters little how the injury occurred, although there are suggestions that there might be some insurance implications.

The plus side for JPM is that he is in Miami, where wife Connie is due to give birth shortly.
