After mixed conditions in Melbourne affected the new qualifying procedure considerably, what can the Formula One field hope for in monsoon-prone Malaysia?

Sepang, Malaysia

Friday

A rather cloudy start to the day. Brightness, with some sunshine, breaking through during the morning. This will continue into the afternoon although, as the sun appears, the shower clouds will develop. From mid to late afternoon, the showers could become fairly widespread, mostly thundery in nature. Feeling very hot and oppressive, despite light and variable breezes. Top temperature around 35C / 96F. Forty per cent risk of precipitation.

Saturday

On the whole, a better day, with more sunshine on offer compared to Friday. Little in the way of cloud, both in the morning and afternoon. Just the smallest risk of a late afternoon shower. Once again, feeling hot and humid, with light and variable breezes. Temperatures picking up, increasing to 36C / 97F. Ten per cent risk of precipitation.

Sunday

Not too bad a day. A mix of cloud and sunny intervals during the morning and, at first, in the afternoon. Thickening cloud during the back end of the afternoon will lead to an increased risk of thundery showers moving into the region. These could possibly affect the latter stages of the race. Light breezes, but continuing to feel hot and humid, with top temperatures of 37C / 99F. Thirty per cent risk of precipitation.
