Kiyo posts fastest ever lap at Snetterton.

Ryuichi Kiyonari stomped all over his own lap record at Snetterton to set the fastest time seen on a motorcycle. He lapped on his HM Plant Honda in a spectacular 1min 04.844secs ahead of round seven of the Bennetts British Superbike championship.

The only other rider to join him in the 1min 04's was Airwaves Ducati's Leon Haslam with a 1min 04.940secs. Third fastest was Gregorio Lavilla, despite an uncharacteristic crash which red flagged the session. Lavilla fell at Russells when he lost the front end, leaving debris on the track which is why the session needed to be stopped; he was unhurt in the tumble.

The Rizla Suzuki team found themselves a rider down following Shane Byrne's crash in free practice one. Byrne was knocked unconscious and therefore is subject to an eight day race ban to ensure he is fully recovered. They opted to replace Byrne with Jon Kirkham a regular Suzuki rider. Kirkham had a small off in the first session; unfortunately for him his bike dug in and tumbled, sustaining a large amount of damage, therefore Kirkham running on the Rizla machine has worked out well for both parties. He completed free practice two in sixteenth place with the injured James Haydon running in thirteenth.

Simon Andrews who is a usual front runner in supersport made an impressive appearance on the Jentin Yamaha Superbike. He ended free practice two in tenth place lapping in 1min 05.913secs.

The Virgin Mobile Yamaha team are putting in a strong performance at high speed Snetterton with Hill finishing in sixth and his Australian team-mate Billy McConnell in ninth.
